There are several national networks that provide over 130,000 Level 2 and Level 3 chargers.
On their websites you can search for their locations without an account. To use chargers you must set up an account. The account will need details about the car you drive, and a method of payment. With that information, the site knows the range of your car and the type of connector you have. You may receive a credit card that identifies you at charging stations on that network. When you swipe your card, your account will be charged automatically.
You can plan a trip on the site by telling it your starting point, destination, and optional waypoints (places you will drive through along the way). It will map out a route that will show compatible chargers that are spaced within your car’s range. It will tell you the charge time for each station, and the overall trip time.
It is entirely possible to travel coast to coast in an EV.
